Today Square Enix announced Project Echoes, a brand new JRPG set in a fairytale world.

Before you start uncorking that champagne (but you probably already read the headline, so chances are that you aren't), it's for iOS and Android.

The game is already accepting pre-registrations in Japan, and we get the introduction of the first character, a girl named Jibril.

We also get to see the first trailer that is mostly an atmosphere video, even if we get to see a glimpse at what appears to be gameplay (or in-engine cutscenes) at the end.

For the moment, that's all we get. Further information has been promised down the line, with three more characters to be revealed on August 20th.

You can take a look below, and see if you find it interesting.

Just yesterday, Square Enix announced rather wet quarterly financial results citing as part of the reason under-performing mobile games, and promising that new releases would be "carefully selected"
