Square Enix has published over on Twitter its support for #BlackLivesMatter, standing with the Black community in face of racism, prejudice and hate. Square Enix also pledged $250,000 to take a part in the effort to positively change the world and fight racial injustice.

Furthermore, the company listed multiple platforms so Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Mana, SaGa, and The Bouncer fans can learn and take further steps to act:

Personally speaking, I think Square Enix, being a huge company, definitely made this decision with marketing in mind. Square Enix is big. They not only publish and make games but also manga, goods and the like. Everything it does is for the sake of its business. I can't say they suddenly shot up in my esteem. With that said, I still think it is important for companies to show a minimum of decency. Especially as Japanese companies such as SE do have something to loose by doing this, considering the rise of small but vocal groups these last ten years on social media, who both enjoy Japanese products and outright support discrimination. It's important and symbolic to see the Japanese house of game developers known worldwide such as Tetsuya Nomura take position.

Multiple other game companies have shown support as well such as Sony PlayStation or EA.  Gamer communities too across the world have rallied, as shown with the Animal Crossing fundraising stream organized by I Need Diverse Games. No one knows yet if things will ever change and how, but this is still very heartwarming.
