Today Square Enix announced with a press release that quite a few changes are going to be made to its executive team.

The following Executive Officers have been appointed to the position of Director and Executive Officer, entering the company's board of directors. You'll probably recognize a few names among them.

  • Yoshinori Kitase (Final Fantasy VII Remake and Mobius Final Fantasy Producer)
  • Yosuke Saito (Dragon Quest series and NieR Automata Producer)
  • Michihiro Sasaki
  • Hirokazu Nishikado
  • Shinji Hashimoto (Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts Brand Manager)
  • Yu Miyake
  • Naoki Yoshida (Producer and Director of Final Fantasy XIV)
  • Kazuharu Watanabe

The new positions will come into effect on April 1st.

Yosuke Matsuda remains at the helm as President and Chief Executive Officer, while Executive Vice President Keiji Honda and Yukinobu Chida, who has been a member of the board of directors for many years, decided to retire as of March 31st.

In addition to this, Hideaki Sato and Motoharu Mitamura have been appointed as Executive Officers.

Square Enix introduced its system based on Executive Officers in 2015 in order to promptly respond to changes in the business environment, aiming to build a structure to strengthen management execution and enabling flexible decision-making. The composition of the board of directors has been revised in order to more quickly act in accordance with the changes of the current age, and further strengthening the business foundation of the company.
