Outside of Japan, Canada is the country with the largest Square Enix workforce. Currently, almost 700 people work at Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, and today Square Enix revealed their intentions to add 100 new jobs at both of the aforementioned studios and expand their office space.

Square Enix is working on expanding Edios Montreal's workspace by 10,000 square feet throughout 2019. Some of the things they plan on adding in this expansion are a motion capture studio, photogrammetry studio, user research lab, and a studio for voice recording and sound mixing. These should all help Eidos Montreal's future development efforts. Last September, they released Shadow of the Tomb Raider and they are currently helping with Crystal Dynamics' Avengers project as well.

Meanwhile, Square Enix voiced its intention to continue investing into Square Enix Montreal. While the mobile studio hasn't put out a new title since 2016's Deus Ex Go due to the poor performance of premium mobile titles, job listings suggest the team is still working on brand new mobile games.

As Square Enix is beefing up both Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, they defintely seem to have some interesting projects ahead of them. We will be sure to let you know when Square Enix reveals what these studios are doing next, but in the meantime we can just looks forward to their E3 2019 Press Conference.
