Lara Croft has long been a name synonymous with high-octane action thanks to the recent slate of titles from the Tomb Raider reboot series, and according to publisher Square Enix, we may soon be seeing the latest adventure for Lara to take on.Square Enix has announced through the series' Twitter page that a new Tomb Raider title is currently in development, with the studio opting for a simpler message to reveal the game's development than a full-blown trailer or reveal.Square explained in its note that that "it won't be very long between the official reveal and when you can play," and added that "our journey together will begin with a major event in 2018," and that "we simply can't wait to take you on Lara Croft's defining adventure."While details are obviously vague at this time on the next title in the series, presumably it will be a continuation of the current series that started with 2013's Tomb Raider reboot and its sequel, 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider. There isn't too much to go on right now about the next game, title, but I'm at least excited that we'll get to know (hopefully soon) about what is next for Lara Croft.

[UPDATE] Some online (such as gaming historian Liam Robertson) have noted that the first letter of each sentence in Square Enix's statement, when put together, spell out the word "SHADOW," hinting towards the previously rumored title of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

While obviously this is far from a confirmation that this will be the title of the final game, it's either an interesting puzzle that was meant for fans to pick up on (especially given the unusual way that Square Enix announced a major title), or a fun tease at the rumored name of the next Tomb Raider game.
