Square Enix Quietly Registers Trademark for Deus Ex: Human Defiance

By David Rodriguez

February 28, 2013

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a science-fiction/cyberpunk-esque game released amidst one of the biggest holiday seasons in all of gaming, 2011. It is no surprise that the game saw varying sales across the board. Nevertheless, it appears that Square Enix will be moving forward with a sequel (or prequel, interquel, etc.).

A poster on NeoGAF has uncovered an application for a new game’s trademark – Deus Ex: Human Defiance – which was filed just under two days ago. The language of the title is indicative of a good chance that it may take place during the same time period as Human Revolution, and it may even be a sequel.

Neither Square Enix nor any developer has released an official comment on the matter.
