Square Enix Trademarks New Final Fantasy Title

By Kenneth Richardson

December 30, 2010

JRPG fanboys the world over should get excited. Genre kingpin Square Enix has trademarked the name to a new Final Fantasy game, and it isn’t numbered. The trademarked name is Final Fantasy Type-0. Alongside this trademark, the above logo was found. This is accordingly the name Final Fantasy, written in Chinese characters.

The fact that the game is not numbered insists that this will be a spin-off of some sort, and judging from the pattern of Final Fantasy spin-offs lately, it will probably be for a handheld device of some kind. Look for more info on this after a Square Enix press conference takes place early next year.
