Star Citizen Gets its First Actual Gameplay Footage, and it Looks Absolutely Glorious

Yesterday night legendary Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts and Cloud Imperium Games finally hosted the debut of the Dogfighting Module of Star Citizen during an event in Boston, giving us what’s effectively the first real glimpse on the upcoming space simulator’s gameplay.

Below you can see the footage, courtesy of YouTube user kigamitya, that cut the 13 minutes of gameplay from the two hour-long presentation.

The Dogfighting Module will be the first step of a virtual training simulator called Arena Commander that will range from space battles to ship boarding, and that will work as a preview of the game itself.

Despite a few awkward moments due to a few drinks too much (according to Roberts himself) and to the fact that we’re looking at early alpha code, the footage looks absolutely stunning. Don’t believe me? Just heck it out for yourself. The crowd isn’t cheering like crazy for nothing, and most definitely isn’t pre-recorded.

If you want to see Star Citizen’s ships in all their glory and in a more tranquil environment (and in about a thousand high-detail screenshots), you can check out part 1 and part 2 or our visual feature.
