Square Enix and Tri-Ace revealed the first story and character details for Star Ocean 6 The Divine Force, most notably focusing on the two protagonists, Raymond and Laetitia. we translated everything below.

"Raymond is originally from planet Beguard, which was not absorbed by the Federation. He's the captain of the space trading ship Ydas. When leaving planet Beguard for one of his usual freight missions, his ship is attacked by the Astoria, a battleship belonging to a famous clan of the Pangalactic Federation, the Kenny clan."

Star Ocean 6 protagonists: Pick between Raymond or Laetitia, BGM sample from Motoi Sakuraba
The Japanese official site for Star Ocean 6 The Divine Force confirmed players will be able to pick either Raymond or Laetitia as the protagonist. Moreover, the normal battle BGM changes depending on who you picked. You can listen to samples on the official site. They're both typical Sakuraba bangers.
The English press release also stated the JRPG has different story perspectives and gameplay experiences depending on your protagonist choice.
Raymond, voiced by Subaru Kimura
Raymond is a young man from Beguard, a planet independent from the Pangalactic Federation. He's the captain of the Ydas, a trading ship belonging to Lawrence Logistics, which is a family-owned business.
Raymond is an easy-going person, who'd do anything for his crew. He always thinks of his subordinate's well-being first. He's also an experienced businessman.
Because he isn't part of the Galactic Federation, Raymond doesn't follow the Underdeveloped Planet Preservation Pact, which prohibits people from interacting with inhabitants of these planets to avoid disrupting their natural development course. This is why he's so interesting to Laetitia. However, Albaird is extremely wary of him. Raymond uses a greatsword in battle. Most people call him Ray.
Elena, voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki
Elena is Raymond's adjutant and part of the crew of the trading ship Ydas. She's calm and knowledgeable, pretty much managing the whole ship's operations by herself. So Raymond and the rest of the crew all place their trust in her.
She's a no-nonsense person who is often surprised by Raymond's outlandish ideas, but she still highly evaluates his leadership capabilities. In battle, Elena uses a shapeshifting weapon like a whip.
Laetitia, voiced by Minase Inori
"In the sea of stars, my title as a princess is meaningless"
Laetitia is the first princess of Osidious, a large kingdom on underdeveloped planet Aster 4. Laetitia has a bright and bold personality, and despite being royalty, is a brave warrior. Her graceful figure when manipulating her twin swords is revered by her people.
These past few years, Laetitia has been traveling incognito, searching for someone who could help her resolve ongoing military tensions with a neighboring country. During her journey, she ended up meeting with Raymond, who got stranded alone on Aster 4. They end up traveling together to help each other with their objectives.
Albaird, voiced by Natsuki Hanae
Albaird is a knight from the kingdom of Osidous who serves Laetitia. He's also her childhood friend and is accompanying her on her incognito journey. Albaird is an incredible fighter who mastered the chakram. He's extremely cautious of Raymond but reluctantly accepts him because Laetitia wills it.
Star Ocean 6 staff, official descritpion
Star Ocean 6 is developed by Tri-Ace. The scenario is written by Yoshiharu Gotanda, president of Tri-Ace. Satoshi Wagahara (Hataraku Maou-sama! / The Devil is a Part-Timer!). Shunsuke Sarai (Inu to Hasami wa TsukaiyÅ / Dog & Scissors). Akiman is the character designer. Motoi Sakuraba is handling the music.
