Tokyo Game Show 2022 is in full swing, with the latest news from hotly-anticipated games being shared at the event. Publisher Square Enix has announced that a demo for Star Ocean: The Divine Force will be released for Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PS4, and PS5 next week, on September 20.

Square Enix and developer tri-Ace are gearing up to release a demo for their forthcoming action RPG, Star Ocean: The Divine Force, to give players a taste of what the game will be like when it fully launches on October 27. According to the publisher, the demo version will offer two-hour gameplay, starting with one of the protagonists, Raymond, embarking on a journey to battle against the darkness and ending when he arrives in Delyrk Village. However, there is no word whether the player progression will be carried over to the base game at launch. Additionally, Square Enix has not given a reason for the demo version's unavailability on PC.

Alongside the announcement of the demo version, Famitsu released ten minutes of gameplay for Star Ocean: The Divine Force earlier today, featuring new combat footage as well as daily activities like eating, trading, and NPC interactions. As seen in the trailer, players will dive into the action with their group of heroes led by dual protagonists Raymond and Laeticia. To come out victorious in long-running fights, your team members will be able to align their abilities by creating deadly combos. The trailer also showcases that when players encounter an enemy, a hint section will come up on the right side of the screen, giving players information about the creatures ahead of them.

There will also be several special attacks that players can use to deal extra damage. For instance, when enemies are turned back, players can apply surprise attacks to start their battle chain. However, as you might expect from an RPG title, the game won't be entirely focused on combat. Players will gather materials to exchange on trade markets to obtain food or items. Besides that, they can receive missions from NPCs, each offering a mini-story in itself. Last but not least, players will head back to their villages at night to keep the pulse of where they live.

Pre-ordering for Star Ocean: The Divine Force is now available on all planned platforms.
