CBS All Access show Star Trek: Discovery recently finished its second season. While fans eagerly await a possible Season 3, Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment are filling that gap by adding two Star Trek: Discovery characters, Gabriel Lorca and Ellen Landry, to Star Trek Online for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Gabriel Lorca and Ellen Landry will be voiced by there respective actors, Jason Issacs and Rekha Sharma, and will be implemented into Star Trek Online alongside new missions and new reputation and ship systems. These additions are all part of an impending update title Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery, which will hit PC on May 14, 2019. You can check out the trailer that revealed the free update below.

As I mentioned, Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery adds new missions. These two missions feature Captain Gabriel Lorca and Commander Ellen Landry, and will show what both characters were up to on the U.S.S. Buran before the joined the U.S.S. Discovery's crew. Star Trek Online players will help Commander Landry track down Captain Lorca after he is left stranded on an ice moon after an encounter with the Klingon.

Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery also introduces a Tier 6 level of reputation. Dubbed "Discovery Legends," this tier will add several new Task Force Operations that will net player gear based on Star Trek: Discovery. Tier 6 starships are also be modified to support "player level-less scaling" which the developers say will allow "captains with varying experience to command these powerful vessels at any time."

You can check out some screenshots that highlight this update's content below. While Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery hits PC on May 14, players on PS4 and Xbox One will have to wait until later in 2019 to try it out.
