Star Trek Online: Age of Discovery Update Now Available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Star Trek Online: Age of Discovery is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, reworking multiplayer missions, drops level gating, and adding much more.

The newest expansion for Star Trek Online: Age of Discovery, is now available for the console versions after releasing on PC earlier in October.

This new update brings in the latest Star Trek television show, Discovery, into the game. Locations from the show such as the Dilithium Mines of Corvan II, a Crossfield class starship the U.S.S. Glenn, and Starbase 1 will all be available to visit. Characters and events from the tv show will also be incorporated into the game, including Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, a cadet who was in her final year when assigned to the U.S.S. Discovery.

Multiplayer missions known as Queues are now Task Force Operations that will advance the narrative, and previous multiplayer missions will be remastered or remade entirely to match the new format. The Defense of Starbase 1 will be the first of the new Task Force Operations, followed by a three week event named Battle at the Binary Stars. Players can matchmake with random TFOs for bonus payouts by supporting other players. Now if there is a TFO that you previously were unable to participate in, you can now do so by having an instance be filled with other players searching for random events to be placed in.

Level requirements have been removed save for specific episodes but all others will be open for anyone to play. The Mission Journal has been redone to surface the best content to those early in the game, and others have been made completely optional. Reputations have been raised to Tier 6, allowing you to continue to build relationships with different factions for bonuses and rewards.

Age of Discovery has also added the Europa Class starship to the Federation, and a starter pack for 750 Zen (or $7.50 USD) that gives you additional inventory slots, experience bonus, weapons, a pet, and starship.

Star Trek Online is a free to play MMORPG that originally launched in 2010 and was ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016.

Captains, welcome to Age of Discovery!  This is a landmark event for Star Trek Online as it marks the first time that the game has run in parallel with a live Trek television show.  We are already experiencing fantastic new synergies collaborating closely with CBS and the show writers.  Captains will experience this right away in a reimagined Federation starting experience working alongside Cadet Sylvia Tilly (voiced by Discovery’s Mary Wiseman) as players set out on epic, multi-release adventures.
