Back in April, Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment revealed that its popular MMO Star Trek Online would be receiving even more content based on the CBS All Access show Star Trek: Discovery in a free update aptly titled Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery. It finally came to PC today, so Perfect World Entertainment released a launch trailer, went into more detail about the contents of the update, and announced that Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on June 25.

In case you don't remember or haven't heard of Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery, it mainly features Captain Gabriel Lorca and Commander Ellen Landry from Star Trek: Discovery. Both of the characters are voiced by their respective actors Jason Issacs and Rekha Sharma. Players meet them in two new missions titled The Plausibility of the Possible and Impossibility of Reason. The Plausibility of the Possible has players help the U.S.S. Buran fight off Klingon forces, while Impossibility of Reason has players save Gabriel Lorca after he is stranded on a frozen ice moon.

As for Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery's other content, longtime players will be pleased to hear about the Tier 6 Reputation of Discovery Legends, which has Star Trek: Discovery themed rewards and lets players go through Discovery Task Force Operations in Advanced and Elite versions. Level restrictions have also been removed from Tier 6 starships, so players can fly premium ships that also scale to their level. This last feature has been implemented into the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game even though they won't be getting Rise of Discovery until June 25.

Avid players of the game will likely want to know even more about the intricacies of the removal of level restrictions on Tier 6 starships, so they can check out the full blog post on it. Another blog post also highlights a sweepstakes Perfect World Entertainment has opened between now and May 26 for two people to go on Star Trek: The Cruise IV later this year.
