Unsurprisingly, it has been reported that Disney Interactive is hard at work on the iterations of Disney Infinity (and presumably figures), and they will incorporate none other than the library of characters from the Marvel Comics and Star Wars universes. This is however, an unusual report, as it comes amidst the announcement that Disney Interactive will lay off several hundred people.
If they are indeed working on Star Wars and Marvel content and toys, it is likely we may not see either for another two years. Marvel has two films releasing this year, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, and are building up to next year’s release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. That same year, we will see the release of Star Wars: Episode VII.
Releasing Marvel and Star Wars toys and content for Disney Infinity during what will likely be a banner year for the company is likely the move they will make.
