Star Wars Battlefront II’s Iden Versio Potentially Teased to Appear in Season 2 of The Mandalorian

Perhaps Baby Yoda could have a new friend when The Mandalorian returns later this year, although the tease likely means nothing.

Ahead of the debut of the second season of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian later this year, rumors have started to swirl that a popular Star Wars character from a previous video game entry in the Star Wars canon could be popping up in the show.

Seen in a new interaction over on Twitter, one fan asked actress Janina Gavankar if she was going to appear in The Mandalorian as Iden Versio, the character that Gavankar played in 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront II. This fan attached a screenshot that seemed to contain a cast list for the show’s second season and featured Gavankar in the role of Versio. Gavankar then quote tweeted the question and told the fan that they should direct this inquiry to Dave Filoni, who is one of the primary writers of The Mandalorian.

Of course, just because Gavankar seems to potentially be entertaining the idea of appearing on The Mandalorian as Versio doesn’t mean that such a thing is bound to happen. For starters, the screenshot in question that was shared is incredibly suspicious and shouldn’t be considered a valuable source whatsoever. There’s no way as of this writing to validate that it has any credibility. The fan said they simply pulled it off of a Facebook page that they follow.

And in the off chance that this screenshot of the cast list did have some validity through the way in which it came about, the characters found on the cast list seem a bit far-fetched. The way you know that this is surely a fan-made image is because the list also mentions characters such as Bossk, Mon Mothma, and Shriv among others that will also be appearing in the show. To see so many fan-favorites appearing in a show that has so far largely has been disconnected from the rest of the Star Wars universe wouldn’t make much sense.

So in short, the actual chances of Versio appearing in The Mandalorian based on this one interaction don’t seem great. While Gavankar would likely be willing to reprise her role as Versio in the show if Disney came calling, this interaction doesn’t prove that this crossover is bound to happen.

Per usual with Lucasfilm and Disney, details of season two of The Mandalorian will probably be kept under extremely tight wraps until it debuts later in 2020. Even though seeing Iden Versio appear in the show would be cool, it’s probably not an idea you should get too attached to just yet.

As for Star Wars Battlefront II itself, the game is currently out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC and just received a rather major new update last month.
