EA Details Star Wars Battlefront II’s Upcoming 2018 Updates and Additions
Star Wars Battlefront II gave time frames for new content, including characters like General Grievous and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and new maps such as Geonosis.
Even though the forthcoming Battlefield V is a huge priority for DICE at the moment, EA would like to remind all that Star Wars Battlefront II is still alive and well. We’re approaching a year since the controversial game came out, but EA and DICE are continuing to add content, detailing the specifics of their plans in a blog post.
After the relatively minor addition of new Clone Trooper skins and the return of Palpatine as a playable hero, more new content is coming to the game starting this September. That month will bring an improved Squad System, allowing players to spawn on their squadmates.
General Grievous will make his previously-announced appearance this October; November will bring Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a new Galactic Assault map in Geonosis. The map will include vehicles like the STAP, the BARC speeder, and the AT-TE.
Finally, this upcoming winter will have Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker as playable heroes, alongside Coruscant Guard skins for Clone Troopers. There will also be a yet-to-be-named new large scale mode, which DICE and EA describe as a sandbox experience in which “two teams battle for capture points and to ultimately bring down capital ships.”
While trust for EA may be at a low point, these new additions appears to be an attempt of good will—whether or not EA has learned its lesson, we’ll have to see if the player base is still there for Battlefront II.
