Star Wars Battlefront II Gets Incredible Looking New Starfighter Assault Gameplay Footage at Gamescom
Battlefront II's highly requested new Starfighter Assault game mode looks awesome with almost 10 minutes of new gameplay footage.
Today, during EA’s pre-Gamescom live stream from Cologne, Germany, we received more news on the upcoming sequel Star Wars Battlefront II.
EA showed off an extended look at the sequel’s highly anticipated — and highly requested — Starfighter Assault game mode. In this footage, we get a look at a variety of different ships from multiple Star Wars eras while also checking out hero specific vessels such as Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, Boba Fett’s Slave I, and even Poe Dameron’s black X-wing.
What stands out most to me after watching the footage is that each ship seems to have their own unique feel and HUD. While there were a handful of different ships that could be utilized in the 2015 Battlefront, most of them felt far too similar to one another. Battlefront II seems to be focused on making each ship feel completely different.
A few days ago, Battlefront II received a new CGI trailer highlighting the starfighter battles in the game. The new video served as the opening to today’s gameplay stream and shows us a variety of other hero characters that will be able to be played as in the Starfighter Assault game mode.
The full gameplay footage for Starfighter Assault can be found at the bottom of this page. If you want to check out everything else that EA announced during this pre-Gamescom event, be sure to view the full stream where you can see all of today’s reveals. As for Battlefront II, the game is slated to release later this year on November 17 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
