EA Expects Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to Ship 6 to 8 Million Copies by March 2020

The expectations for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have been disclosed from EA ahead of launch.

October 30, 2019

Electronic Arts recently had its latest financial call going over earnings for the second quarter of its current fiscal year. In the process, the publisher also looked ahead and talked about what it expects moving forward, specifically for the impending release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Ahead of its launch in just a few weeks, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen outlined how the company expects Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to do at market. Jorgensen stated that by the end of EA’s current fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2020, it is expected that Fallen Order will ship between 6 and 8 million units around the world.

This is a rather high mark for the game to reach, but considering how popular the Star Wars IP is, it’s one that definitely seems feasible. Not to mention, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order finally seems to be the kind of game that many have been asking for from EA: a single-player story-driven experience that isn’t overloaded with microtransactions. It stands to reason that this game could end up being one of the top-sellers of the year, so the high expectations from EA makes sense.

That said, EA has had high expectations for games in the past and has failed to reach those mile markers. Anthem is likely the most notable release from EA this year and it didn’t reach the 5 to 6 million goal that the publisher had in mind. Then again, Anthem’s quality was one of the biggest sticking points as to why this goal likely wasn’t met. From what I’ve played of Fallen Order, it seems like a much more solid game that I anticipate will score highly from critics.

Still, we’ll have to wait and see how Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order does once it actually launches here in less than a month. The game is due out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in just a few weeks on November 15.
