Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is Being Re-Released with Online Multiplayer
Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy are being re-released on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
During today’s Nintendo Direct, Aspyr Media confirmed that Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast was releasing for Nintendo Switch come September 24. Following this reveal, an official press release gave more details about this re-release while also confirming that a Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy port is also on its way.
Both re-releases will be available on Nintendo Switch and PS4. Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast features all the content of the original with brushed up visuals for modern platforms and gyroscopic aiming on Nintendo Switch. That port releases on September 24, though Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is following on the same platforms in early 2020. Asypr confirmed that they plan on restoring that game’s online multiplayer mode as well, which should revive a long dormant community and expose more people to an interesting part of Star Wars gaming history.
Aspyr’s VP of Publishing Elizabeth Howard emphasized how these projects align with the developer’s goals and that that they are taking these re-releases quite seriously. “One of the most rewarding aspects of our work at Aspyr is bringing amazing experiences for iconic, global IP to more platforms and audiences. Delivering classic Star Wars games to modern consoles, with the experience maximized to take advantage of the latest controls and features, is a responsibility we take very seriously. We can’t wait to see fans reactions,” she stated.
