Ahead of the release of Star Wars: Squadrons, which is set to drop in a little under a month, Electronic Arts and Motive today released a pretty rad new trailer for the game that has connections to the larger Star Wars creative teams.

Created with help from Lucasfilm and ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), which are two of the teams that work on all of the actual Star Wars movies, Squadrons has now received a fully-CG short film of its own. The trailer, which is entitled "Hunted," centers around one of the Imperial characters that will be featured in the game and takes place before the events of the story that Squadrons will tell.

Following the retreat of the Empire in a battle against the New Republic, Hunted finds TIE pilot Varko Grey alone as he tries to avoid the array of X-wing fighters that are after him. The video itself is pretty action-packed and sees dogfighting between the two combatants taking place in a variety of different locales over the course of its nearly seven-minute runtime.

Honestly, this is one of the cooler promotional materials that any Star Wars game has received in recent years and I would highly encourage you to check it out if you're looking forward to Squadrons. Hopefully, Lucasfilm and ILM can work on other forthcoming Star Wars games in this same manner down the road. I know that I'd definitely be down for it, at least.

Star Wars: Squadrons is set to be released next month on October 2 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you'd like to watch the full new short, you can check it out below.
