The Early access of Star Wars: The Old Republic is only a few days away (the first wave of users will be allowed access on
the 15th the 13th) and the client is a rather heavy beast, weighing about 27 Gigabytes. That’s why those that don’t have the most lightning fast internet connection may want to get a head start and start downloading the client now.
The good news is that they can, as Bioware made the client available for download, in order to give people plenty time to get those large files on their computer before the floodgates open. You can get your own here (you will need a valid SWTOR account in order to get the launcher to start downloading). You can also download it from the “preorder” section of your account (assuming you preordered and redeemed your code, of course).
Remember that if you took part in the beta after November the 25th, you already have a valid client, and don’t need to uninstall it (despite the mail sent by Bioware that said the opposite), as it will just patch to the launch build. You may want to uninstall it only if your game folder is larger than 27 Gigabytes, because that means that you have some outdated and redundant files on your PC, and a cleanup may be in order. You have plenty time to download the full client anyway.
And yes, if you looked at the screenshot above and imagined my now-dead beta character saying “I find your lack of faith disturbing”, you’re totally right.
