Star Wars: The Old Republic Community Q&A Reveals Change In BioWare Policy

July 7, 2012

When you think of something like Star Wars, the really alien races like Wookiees are a defining part of that experience. In their MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, however BioWare chose to limit player choices to races that were much closer to humans, citing the need for players to be able to insert themselves into the character. With the announcement at E3 that Cathar will be added to the game as a playable race the floodgates of requests for new races have been opened once again.

While recent Community Q&A’s have been fairly light on content, this week’s did have one unexpected surprise. Lead Game Designer Daniel Erickson announced that BioWare would be willing to work with the community in the future to determine the pros and cons of choices for future playable races. While it doesn’t mean you’re likely to be playing a Hutt anytime soon it does mark a change in their previous policy of just saying no to any races that weren’t different colored humans.
