Though they may not get the same level of attention as big "AAA" releases, the world of independent game development has lead to some enormous successes with the likes of Rocket League and other titles, with the indie farming sensation Stardew Valley having crossed a major sales milestone at one million copies sold since launch.

In a statement to Polygon, publisher Chucklefish Games revealed that Stardew Valley has sold over one million units since its release in February 2016, marking just under two months that the title has been able to reach a significant sales milestone.

A representative from Chucklefish Games detailed that "it's been really exciting for us to help bring this game to people's attention, and the success really couldn't have come to a more deserving person!," mentioning Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, who developed the title single-handedly.

Stardew Valley is available now for PC.
