In news I never thought I'd read, the Starship Troopers property is getting a new RTS. The game is being made by The Aristocrats, who previously worked on Order of  Battle: World War II. So, at the very least, the game has a team with a track record for solid strategy games behind it. That said, count me as very surprised that this 1997 film is getting a video game adaptation in 2019. And, it's an RTS. Give the trailer a watch below.

Though it's a bit of a weird announcement, Starship Trooper: Terran Command looks like a decent RTS. The Aristocrats obviously have experience developing these types of games and have done a great job supporting the previous release with post-launch support. So, giving them a known-IP to build around makes sense, it's just surprising that they went with Starship Troopers.

The team is talking about some interesting things in the initial announcement. They will be implementing player choice into the campaign, which will let players choose between one of the two in-universe factions. The campaigns will also be dynamically generated, giving the game nearly infinite replayability. And, of course, the game will feature leader units. It's not certain if these will be characters you know and love from the Starship Troopers universe, but I would say that's a safe bet.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command will launch in 2020 on PC. It may be a bit of an odd announcement for 2019; however, the developer's previous output has me strangely looking forward to a Starship Troopers game. Something I don't think I ever thought I'd say before today.
