Start Your Training Today; Locations and Qualifying Details Revealed for Nintendo World Championships 2015
After revealing its plans for E3 2015 last week, Nintendo provided a fun surprise right out of the gate by announcing the return of the Nintendo World Championships, a competition that hasn’t seen the light of day since its first appearance 25 years ago, and will be making a triumphant encore at this year’s E3 conference – luckily, you can start your preparations for the tournament now.
Nintendo has officially revealed the qualifying locations and details for the upcoming Nintendo World Championships 2015, with qualifying rounds to take place at eight Best Buy retail stores across the US at the following locations from 10am-7pm local time on May 30th, 2015. Registration for each event will begin at 9am, with the player cap set at 750 contestants – the full list of participating Best Buy locations is below:

Rules for the qualifying rounds detail that competing players will be playing Ultimate NES Remix on Nintendo 3DS, with players engaging in the title’s Championship Mode to amass the highest scores in Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and Dr. Mario. Competitors will not need to provide their own systems or copies of Ultimate NES Remix, which will be provided at each of the participating Best Buy locations.
Qualifying players at each of the eight Best Buy locations will move on to the final field of sixteen players, with one winner from each of the Best Buy competitions joining eight players selected by Nintendo, who will be revealed at a later time in the near future. The final field of sixteen players will compete at the main event in Los Angeles during E3.
The Nintendo World Championships will take place on June 14th, 2015 at the Nokia Theatre during E3 2015.
