Today the award ceremony for the Golden Joystick Awards was held at the Indigo at the 02 in London, and the Best Gaming Platform award has just been assigned. Surprisingly (or may be not si surprisingly), it's not a console.

The award was assigned to Valve's PC gaming platform Steam, with Sony Interactive Entertainment's PlayStation 4 coming in second place among the voters, and Microsoft's Xbox One ending up in third place.

Other nominees that did not make it to the top three where 3DS, Apple, iOS and Google Play. Yes, someone actually did nominate Apple. I'm not making this up.

The award was assigned by popular vote, over the past couple of months (voting started on September 15th and ended on November 5th), proving once more the popularity of PC gaming, and specifically of the much loved Steam platform.

Update: if you're curious on who brought home the Game of the Year award, and to read the full winners list, you can check it out here.

... And no. I won't pull any "master race" joke. I have no doubt that you will in the comments anyway, over and over again.
