Fans of the Borderlands series (or those looking to jump into the series for the first time) have a lot to look forward to, as this upcoming weekend will provide a very Borderlands weekend with new offers, sales, and specials for games in the series on Steam.

Kicking off the Borderlands festivities on Steam is the news that pre-orders are now open this week for the upcoming latest entry in the franchise, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which will be arriving in October for PC, as well as Xbox 360 and PS3. Users can pre-purchase the game for $59.99 on Steam, with the added bonus that any purchasers that already own either Borderlands or Borderlands 2 will get a 10% discount on The Pre-Sequel.

Alongside pre-orders for The Pre-Sequel, Steam is also offering a handful of goodies with its previous entry in the series, with Borderlands 2 being available to play for free this weekend starting today and ending on Sunday, August 24th at 1pm PT. If you’ve played the kooky insanity of Borderlands 2 and decided that you want to own the full experience, Steam is also offering a sale on various Borderlands 2 content, with the full game available for $4.99, or other options are available such as a 4-Pack for $14.99, and the Game of the Year Edition available for $9.99.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel releases for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 14th, 2014.
