Raise your hand if you’ve ever bought a game during a Steam sale and then promptly let it metaphorically collect dust because you never played it. Now keep those hands up if you’ve done it with multiple games. Well, the Steam Spring Cleaning Event will make you want to dust off those unplayed games, download some free ones, and spend the entire Memorial Day Weekend indoors.

Until May 28th, you have the opportunity to earn some badges for your Steam Account by playing certain games that are already in your Steam library or playing some of the free ones. To earn badges, choose a daily task or project and play the qualifying games.  If you’re unsure about which games qualify, Steam will make suggestions for you.  Earning five trophies unlocks a unique profile badge, and completing more tasks and unlocking trophies will level it up.

Some of the trophies that you can still earn this weekend include:

  • NostalgiaPlay a game you’ve played more than two hours of, but haven’t played in a while
  • Trusted Friend: Play a game that has been recommended by a friend
  • Another Chance: Play a game you’ve spent less than an hour playing
  • Can’t Wait: Play a game you’ve bought in the last six months
  • Trusted Advisor: Play a game that a curator you follow has recommended
  • Blast from the Past: Play the first game you added to your Steam account

There nine games are free to play this weekend as well:

  • Dead by Daylight
  • Cities: Skylines
  • Don’t Starve Together
  • DiRT 4
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Tryanny
  • Borderlands 2
  • Shadow of Mordor
  • Castle Crashers

The Steam Spring Cleaning Sale will be available until Monday, May 28th at 2 pm PDT. Head over to Steam to get started, and I’ll be over here playing Gray Matter again. It’s just a shame I can’t play it on any iOS device.
