Independent developer Numantian Games has announced that its zombie apocalyptic steampunk RTS, They Are Billions, will be coming to PC later this year.

They Are Billions brings the zombie apocalypse to the Victorian/Steampunk setting with its real-time strategy gameplay. The infection has been spreading quickly, so only a small population of humanity remains. The game tasks players with protecting that population within their own growing colony. However, there are thousands of infected who are itching to break in. If they have their way, the infection will spread quickly amongst your group.

They Are Billions is a game about building strategic defenses sufficient to protect your people against each new threat. Players will be responsible for gathering resources, building their colony, and raising an army for the purpose of defending all of it.

In order to ensure that the game remains more focused on strategy, Numantian Games has elected to include a Pause Mode, which allows players to take the time to build structures and establish commands to their army. Built in a custom engine that can handle 20,000 infected units in real time, you’ll need every second to properly plan for whatever They Are Billions throws. Oh, and don’t worry that those infected units will look like a jumbled mass, because the game also supports 4K graphics and units with more than 1,500 frames of animation.
