SteamWorld Dig 2 was the first game revealed during the Nindies Showcase all the way back in February, and at the time was only confirmed for a Summer release on the Nintendo Switch. Today, developers Image & Form Games provided an update on the game, and confirmed that the title will also be coming to PC, Mac, Linux, and PS4, with a Late Summer/Early Fall release window now being planned for SteamWorld Dig 2.

While the Nintendo Switch version of the game will still come out first, SteamWorld Dig 2 will come to PC, Mac, Linux, and PS4 "within a few days" of the Nintendo Switch release. Image & Form Games also assured that the newly announced versions didn't cause any sort of delay with the Switch release. The game's Steam page also went live, meaning you can now wishlist the game.

Concerning the possible release of SteamWorld Dig 2 on Wii U, the developers stated that the game will definitely not be coming to that system, as the Switch "has firmly taken its place by now," so they will not be making games for Wii U anymore. While they did not have any formal announcement to make regarding 3DS and PS Vita versions of the , the developers did state that those systems are still important to them and stated "we have not forgotten where we came from". As for the Xbox One, Image & Form Games responded to a commenter on their post stating that they love the Xbox One and "want to include it," though they did not announce the game for it at this time.

In relation to a release date or window for the title, the developers stated that work on the core game of SteamWorld Dig 2 is "pretty much finished," but they want to take a few more months to polish the game on all systems, hence the Late Summer/Early Fall release window they gave. Image & Form Games also said that they will reveal the game's price at the same time as the release date.
