Today, Tate Multimedia, a Polish video game developer and publisher, announced their next big project Steel Rats for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The title is a 2.5D combat racer and is set to hit the aforementioned consoles sometime in 2018.

Steel Rats is described as "visceral and groundbreaking" by the developers and features realistic physics-based controls for the motorcycles players can choose from. In the game's world, the Steel Rats are a biker gang who reside in Coastal City and are fighting a powerful enemy army of junkbots. Players will have the ability to choose to play as multiple characters, with each character having special abilities and customizable bikes for players to mess around with.

Steel Rats' music is composed by Japanese rock trio The 5.6.7.8’s, who are known for their hit song "Woo Hoo", which was featured in Kill Bill: Volume 1. Steel Rats will actually feature a remastered version of one of their tracks, titled “Hoovering”. Jacek Gburczyk, Art Director of Tate Multimedia, had the following to say about the game:

"Steel Rats is set in an atmospheric, stylized, retro-future version of 40s and 50s Americana. We’ve taken everything we love from America in that time period and mixed it up with our favorite parts of dieselpunk and steampunk influences to create something that has a wholly original feel and character.”

Meanwhile, Wojtek Biliński, Head of Studio at Tate Multimedia, also commented on what the company hopes to deliver with Steel Rats:

“In terms of gameplay, we want to have something for speed runners, racers, brawlers, stunt drivers and all those who want to pull off insane and stylish fight moves from the back of a turbo-powered motorbike. We hope that everyone will enjoy playing Steel Rats in one of these ways and discover the many styles of gameplay we aim to deliver.”
