At today's Nacon Connect, several new games from the French publisher were announced, none of which are bigger than Spiders' Steelrising. The game is the team's first since being acquired by Nacon last year and looks to build on their last release Greedfall. While details are still a bit light on what you'll actually do in the game, Spiders did provide a quick look at the game's story. Check out the

">first-look trailer below.

As you can see in the teaser, Steelrising exists in an alternate future where automatons were prevalent during the French Revolution. You play as Aegis, a female robot tasked with protecting Marie-Antoinette. And, it's your job to fight back against the tyrannical rule of King Louis XVI and his robot army.

It's certainly an intriguing premise, but that's kind of what Spiders has become known for lately. Just look at Greedfall. While it might not be the best video game ever made, it's premise might've been the best thing going for it. If Spiders can match their world with a great game, they might have a hit on their hands.

Speaking to that, Spiders CEO Jehanne Rousseau confirmed that they're looking to build a more "action-focused" game. Time will tell what that looks like for Spiders, but it's great to see them pushing in the right direction. The team also wants to include more elements of verticality. They're also pushing to make the overall package feel more fluid. They want the transition between combat and exploration to feel more cohesive. We'll see soon if they can pull it off.

Steelrising is set to launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox Series X. We don't have a firm release date just yet, but I would expect more news as we move toward Gamescom.
