Steep: Road to the Olympics Expansion Receives New Gameplay Video and Details
Steep's Road to the Olympics expansion for PC, PS4, and Xbox One has gotten a new gameplay video and details on its new story mode.
Ubisoft Annecy released a new gameplay video for Steep’s Road to the Olympics expansion today that delves into some of the new and different gameplay features of the Olympic-themed expansion, which was revealed back at E3.
The expansion, which will take place during the 2018 Pyongchang Winter Olympics, actually has a new story mode based off the stories the developers heard from real-world athletes. Players will try to get gold medals in the Big Air, Half Pipe, and Slopestyle events while being guided by real Olympians like Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller, and Sage Kotsenburg.
Players can also partake in the events such as Giant Slalom, Slalom, Super-G, Downhill, Parallel Giant Slalom, Halfpipe, Snowboard Cross, Slopestyle, Big Air, Ski Halfpipe, Ski Cross, and Ski Slopestyle online against other players in order to get medals. All of these events are also held on South Korean slopes that are brand new to the game. The expansion also introduces a new Japan map, which features multiple peaks covered in hidden temples and cherry blossom forests and deep powder slopes.
Players who already purchased Steep can buy Road to the Olympics by itself, though those who waited have two different options. The first is the Steep Winter Games Edition, which comes with the base Steep game and the Road to the Olympics expansion, while the second is the Steep Winter Games Gold Edition, which will garner players base game, all the content from the season pass, and this expansion.
You can check out the new gameplay video below. Steep: Road to the Olympics is currently set to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on December 5. It is currently unclear whether this expansion will be included in the Nintendo Switch version of the game, which was revealed back in January, but hasn’t really been talked about since.
