In one of the stranger moments in the fighting game community this weekend at Canada Cup. Appropriately named player, Initial T, competed this weekend at the Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 event for the Toronto-based tournament. The Kum Haehyun main did really well, making Top 8 even. The only kicker though -- he played his matches with a steering wheel controller. That's right, Initial T really brought the salt on by pulling combos on competitive players with a steering wheel. We always see players picking controllers they feel they are comfortable with, from fight stick to a game pad and even an all-button controller like a Hit Box.The steering wheel controller, though this might bring up momentum for the set play *wink wink," seems something more of the player trying to stick out rather than picking something conventional. With that being said Initial T was looking quite optimal with his execution against fighting game veteran and top player Dogura.

It seemed from the commentators as well that there was an overall shared disbelief that Initial T was actually taking sets from these players with the help of a peripheral you use to play Gran Turismo or I guess... Initial D. After all that madness, our guy Initial T ended his long ride a respectable 5th place for the event. Though this seems like an odd thing, there was a similar instance not too long ago when a player competed in Dragon Ball FighterZ with a Rock Band keyboard -- so don't count out the FGC in creativity.

Outside of Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, Capcom Cup has been the premier eSports event this weekend kicking off the Capcom World Tour.

Now if you'll excuse me I've got to go through my closet and look for my Donkey Kongas before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate comes out. Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 is available now on PS4.
