Steam Gets a Forecast for Some Bad Weather with Storm VR
A trio of developers have gotten together to try and simulate a blizzard in their weather survival game, Storm VR. TeamStormVR, Anrick and UNIT9 recently released their experience on Steam for the low price of $1.99 USD. The game is compatible with the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
This is actually the first installment in an episodic saga that looks to explore the mysteries of outside and inside. For this initial adventure, you play as someone stuck in a cold forest with no indication of who you are and where you’re going. As you brace for survival, you’ll find clues to exactly what is going on and hopefully find some inner peace before freezing to death.
The other episodes will include a desert, city, and jungle. And of course, with a name like Storm VR, you’ll be facing the elements with lightning and rain or even dehydration and sand. All these installments will be connected and hold the ultimate goal of figuring out just what’s going on.
As for the gameplay itself, the devs had this to say about their inspirations:
“Storm is a game about identity, and about destiny. Storm lives somewhere between a film and a game. We were inspired by the visual beauty of extreme environments; an aesthetically beautiful but deadly experience where your body is pushed to the extreme.”
No word has been given about when future episodes will come out. For now, all we can do is venture out into the white wasteland and hope to find some shelter within our virtual headsets.
