Shortly after its announcement in this week's Famitsu, Marvelous published the first trailer for the next Story of Seasons game, a Switch remake of GBA's Harvest moon Friends of Mineral Town.

The trailer sets the base of the game's story, with how the protagonist spent part of their childhood at Mineral Town, before moving back there as an adult to take care of a farm. The trailer reveals the game's new UI, which uses plenty of the evolutions that appeared in the Story of Seasons series since Friends of Mineral Town in 2003.

The trailer also teases that brand new animals to raise and a new bachelor and bachelorette are also included in the remake.

Marvelous also announced that more Story of Seasons games will be developed and released on Nintendo Switch in the future.

Personally speaking, I'm quite excited about this remake as it doesn't seem to be a simple switch from 2D from 3D, as it includes changes and many new elements. I tend to dislike remakes who in the end, propose the same experience as the original but in 3D instead of 2D. The Secret of Mana remake or the upcoming Link's Awakening remake comes to mind for example. I've also gotta add most characters in Friends of Mineral Town look much cuter in 2D than in their new character design in 3D.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town launches in Japan on October 17. The game will definitely come west as XSeed has been localizing recent Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games including the upcoming Rune Factory 5, but no official announcement has been made for now.

Update: XSeed announced they're handling the localization of Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town in North America. No release date or estimate was communicated, however.
