Polyscape Inc. has officially announced its first game, Mistrogue. Early access on Steam is scheduled to start in the Spring of 2023, with the full release expected to be six months later; but the schedule may change depending on player feedback and content implemented.

Polyscape is a new development studio founded earlier this year, but they have already designed all the core functions of their first game. Their mission is to "create a virtual world where people can live more freely". With their first game Mistrogue, they are aiming to create this ideal world along with the players through their official discord and steam forums. The game will support eight different languages along with English, and there are no words yet on console releases or ports.

Mistrogue is a strategy roguelike action game that combines traditional roguelike elements such as automatically-generated dungeons, a hunger system, and a city hub, with skill-building gameplay concepts where you manage your abilities and items to create the optimal build. Your goal is to hunt for treasures and solve the mystery of a kingdom that was about to be destroyed 500 years ago by a great calamity. Mages have sealed this calamity in a maze, but this has led to the maze having its own awareness and becoming a living dungeon.

Your stats will reset when you go out of the dungeon, but you can bring any items and weapons you have obtained from enemies with you. All equipment in Mistrogue has unique active and passive skills, and you can change your equipment at any time. This means that there are limitless combinations of builds depending on what equipment you find, and also means that there isn't a single build that is viable for every dungeon and every situation.

Unlike other rouge-like games, players can get rare and legendary drops in Mistrogue even from weak monsters, so every encounter serves a purpose. Players will however need to manage their limited resources such as HP, recovery items, and food. Deciding whether to complete the dungeon or go back with the items you have obtained is crucial during every dungeon visit; although it may seem like the same rogue-like cycle, Mistrogue offers a more unique variety in creating builds and facing challenges.

Mistrogue is available to wishlist on Steam now, with early access set to begin in Spring of 2023.
