PlayStation's upcoming State of Play returns and with it fans are hoping to see some anticipated games but here's a few of my own.

Sony's State of Play returns this week, on Wednesday, 27th October with the obvious speculation on what juicy game trailers and information could be shown. In Septembers presentation, we got to see a fantastic line-up that included Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

This time, however, expectations might be slightly lower since the entirety of State of Play is around 20 minutes so that might mean only seeing a handful of games but of course, that doesn't mean that they won't be great!

Here are some of my predictions on what could be shown at October's State of Play.

Stray Strolls the State of Play Catwalk

Who doesn't want to see more of the adorable feline's adventure? Even if you're not a cat fan, which in itself is shameful, the idea of a little kitty wandering around neon-lit streets with a little backpack is enough to perk up most gamers' ears.

Stray's first trailer was revealed during the July 2021 Annapurna Interactive Showcase that focused mostly on some beautiful gameplay but, unfortunately, no release date was shown other than a 2022 window. Maybe we will see a more solid arrival date for Stray at the State of Play.

Hogwarts Legacy Casts a Spell

We haven't heard much at all really from WB Games' open-world RPG since its reveal at Sony's PlayStation 5 Showcase in 2020. Other than announcing Hogwarts Legacy would be delayed until sometime next year, there's been a lot of silence.

This would certainly be a great time to showcase some gameplay where fans get to see more of its world, characters and maybe even a proper release date.

Gotham Knights Gameplay Footage?

During the recent DC FanDome, fans finally got a first new look at Gotham Knights in over a year. Although much of the game trailer shown mostly honed in on the Court of Owls aspect, we didn't get to see any gameplay. This is usually the sticking point with many gamers on if it's something they can really get their teeth into so this State of Play would be an excellent opportunity to reveal some action that's set inside the world of Batman and also a release date other than a vague 2022 window.

The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum Receives a Precious release date?

Announced in March of 2019, The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum will take inspiration from the Tolkien books rather than the movies so if you're a lover of the words of the mastermind author, this could be the game for you.

The title developed by Daedalic Entertainment was set for release this year but, like so many games, it was pushed back until sometime in 2022. State of Play would be the perfect place for Daedalic to showcase more of Gollum and his world as a slave beneath the Dark Tower as well as a more concrete release date.

Other than the confirmed Little Devil Inside appearance, some other titles that could make their way to this month's State of Play is the beautiful looking Forspoken, Final Fantasy XVI, and the long-running FPS franchise, Call of Duty: Vanguard.

You can watch the State of Play on Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00 pm PT / 10:00 pm BST over on Twitch or YouTube.
