Capcom finally made its special announcement after a seven days countdown, revealing Street Fighter 6, though it left fans with mixed feelings and disappointment.

Capcom had a countdown going for seven days, and the countdown ended right on the final day of the Capcom Pro Tour (CPT) Season Finale, hence why many fans believed the announcement would be Street Fighter 6. It was even more predictable seeing Street Fighter is celebrating its 35th anniversary. And we were all right, Street Fighter 6 did get announced.

Street Fighter 6 reveal turns out to be an announcement of an announcement

Capcom ended up revealing a very short teaser trailer for Street Fighter 6, with no gameplay. The short trailer showed Ryu and Luke, who was heavily implied to be the image character of Street Fighter 6 when he was first revealed as a Street Fighter 5 DLC character. So there were no surprises there. The two most predictable characters showed up on that teaser trailer.

Furthermore, no gameplay was shown and Capcom stated we'll get more details in Summer 2022. That's June to September, several months from now on. We only got the announcement of an announcement. There's nothing to analyze and nothing to talk about. Not even the most battle-hardened content creator could make a day 0 tier list out of this teaser trailer. There's not anything for anyone in there. You'll easily find some disappointed reactions looking up Street Fighter 6 on Twitter.

Capcom Fighting Collection announced with Darkstalkers series, Super Gem Fighters and more in rollback

Additionally, Capcom also announced Capcom Fighting Collection, ten games coming back in a collection on all platforms. This collection is really cool and even has Vampire (Darkstalkers), but I'm sure the vast majority of the people who'd play these games are already playing them on Fightcade, so yeah.

While that announcement was disappointing, it's definitely cool that Street Fighter 6 exists and it'll hopefully do some good for fighting games in general and save the community from Genshin Impact. Jokes aside, seeing how mobile games and free-to-play grew so much worldwide these past 10 years, I wouldn't be surprised if Street Fighter 6 was a free-to-play game. Capcom will reveal more in Summer 2022 so we'll know then.
