A modder named Praydog recently shared a new video on YouTube, revealing their very first VR mod for Street Fighter 6 only a few days after the game's official release. To help you realize how quickly this has been implemented, the VR mod arrives sooner than the game's first-ever patch.

With the VR mod installed, you can wear your virtual reality headset and enjoy an immersive experience in which the battle stage will be displayed extendedly to cover your field of view. This VR mod isn't intended to allow you to play Street Fighter 6 in a first-person view, but it delivers a pretty interesting feel to the gameplay, where moving your head allows you to actually look at the different sections of the battle stage. Simply put, it lets you feel like a spectator watching the fight and, of course, controlling one of the fighters.

Street Fighter 6 was officially released just last week, on June 2, across all platforms, receiving highly positive reviews from both the media and the core community. The reason Praydog has managed to release this VR mod so quickly is that they just updated RE Engine Framework Mod. The framework already existed to bring VR capability to earlier Capcom titles like Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and even Monster Hunter Rise. Since Street Fighter 6 has been developed using the same engine as those titles, it didn't take modders too long to update the framework.

Thankfully, this is a free mod, and you can get it from GitHub. However, do note that there is no guarantee on how Capcom may react to this mod's use. Street Fighter 6 is a competitive multiplayer game, and running it with an unofficial mod could result in a potential penalty.

It is yet to be seen if we can expect any more upgrades for the VR mod in the future. Although fighting games might not seem like the best fit for full VR mods, there have been some other creative modders in the past who managed to deliver a first-person VR mod to Mortal Kombat 11.
