With the cancellation of EVO Online, many Street Fighter V fans were probably wondering when they'd hear news about season five. Today, Capcom revealed that fans won't have to wait too much longer to see which new or returning characters are joining the fighter. In an

" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">August 5 Twitch stream, players can expect a full summer update that should answer all of their questions.

Since its launch, Street Fighter V has drawn praise for its excellent gameplay. However, its questionable monetization and early lack of content have brought a fair helping of criticism. However, the 2018 release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is generally seen as a solid step forward, with 2020's Champion Edition following in that path. Though, many would argue that the netcode still needs work.

The season five update adds five new fighters, three new stages, and, presumably, several new costumes. While no fighter has been confirmed, there have been rumors about Rose, Makoto, Fei Long, Oro, and Maki joining the roster. Of course, take all of that with a grain of salt. Nothing is confirmed until Capcom holds that reveal event.

If you're looking to hop into the Street Fighter V scene, now might be a solid time to do so. With a new season on the horizon, there are sure to be more players in there than usual. If you're so inclined, the game is available on PC and PS4. The summer update event hits on August 5 at 10 AM PDT. Make sure to check back then for more details.
