Streets of Rage 4 launched earlier this year, bringing an arcade classic to modern platforms in what our review says is a "great continuation of the classic series, though it doesn't do anything revolutionary." Now, a new update has been announced along with statistics on the number of downloads the game has seen since launch.

The update that's being added to the game is quite a big one and brings apparently over 80 updates with patches for bug fixes and balance changes to the game. Additionally, it's confirmed that these changes and updates have been tested by the community.

The full patch notes are detailed on Dotemu's website with the main goals for the update is to bring online improvements, new online statistics, changes to main character balance, improvements to gameplay in all stages, bug fixes, and some crashes that are rare. The patch notes also detail the changes for each individual character, for example, Floyd's attack x3 infinite has been removed, and with Estel, police attacks in the Commissioner, Stage 2 are easier to dodge.

“We couldn’t be happier with the reception of Streets of Rage 4." Said CEO of Dotemu, Cyrille Imbert, "We thank the fans who have supported the game from day one – a lot of the updates in the patch enhance the replay value for folks who have been with us from the start, additional updates are currently in production and we’ll have more to share on that soon.”

It was also revealed that Streets of Rage 4 has been downloaded over 1.5 million times since it launched earlier this year when it launched on PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. It also launched on Xbox Game Pass. While there haven't been any DLCs confirmed, back in May Guard Crush said it had some DLC ideas in mind, but whether they make them or not is another thing.
