Strider, an arcade classic, is making a comeback. Today at Comic Con, Capcom announced the reboot of the series, the first standalone Strider game since 1999. Set in the dystopian city of Kazakh, the planet is under the oppressive rule of Grand Master Meio. Players take control of Hiryu, an expert assassin, and the last hope for humanity.

The game promises to keep true to its side-scrolling action platformer roots with fluid combat, aerobic jumps, and beautiful open world. Strider also adds new moves, weapons, and new enemies to the game. Hiryu, armed with his indestructible “Cypher”, can learn new abilities and find new items throughout the open world.

Developed by Double Helix Games, Strider, is set to be released early next year for the Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. For now, satisfy your Strider craving with the reveal and gameplay trailer below.
