In a recent Twitter post, a UK-based team by the name of Studio Gobo revealed that it is now officially a "Guerilla co-development partner on the Horizon universe."This is, of course, referring to PlayStation-owned studio, Guerilla Games, that's most recently known for its widely popular Horizon IP, which has so far spawned Horizon Zero Dawn (2017) and its sequel Horizon Forbidden West (2022). However, Guerilla has confirmed that the franchise still has a lot on the... horizon.RELATED: Horizon Forbidden West DLC Burning Shores ConfirmedIn a recent set of job listings, Guerilla Games revealed that there was to be "a new internal team" that would work on a standalone online multiplayer game within the Horizon universe. This contradicted prior rumors that a Horizon MMO was in development at South Korean company NCSoft, which developed Guild Wars 2. The job listings also revealed that, besides the online project, Guerilla is looking for developers to work on future single-player games, as well as an undescribed external project.

'External Project' could be referring to something that's externally developed and thus could be referencing something being made by Studio Gobo. Gobo is a development support team that's worked on some surprisingly recognizable titles, such as For Honor, Redfall, and Hogwarts Legacy. What its working on is still unknown, naturally, though it could possibly be a Horizon Zero Dawn remake. Rumors of such a project being in the works were corroborated by various publications back in October 2022.

Then, early this year, it was reported that former journalist Colin Moriarty claimed that he'd heard that the remake was being handled by an external team outside of Guerilla. This matches this recently announced partnership, as well as the official Guerilla job listings that listed an external project. That being said, Gobo could simply be assisting Guerilla with its internal Horizon projects, just like it's doing with Redfall and Hogwarts Legacy.

Along with this Horizon announcement, Studio Gobo posted some job listings of its own. What's interesting is that the positions, like this one for Senior Gameplay Programmer, speak of an unannounced AAA game that's going to be built on Unreal Engine 5. This is curious, as Guerilla is known for using its proprietary Decima engine, on which it made the prior two Horizon games. Though it's completely possible for Guerilla to have decided to move away from Decima, this does lend credence to the idea that Gobo is making something independently.
