Today, developer Cyanide and publisher Focus Home Interactive released the second gameplay trailer for upcoming stealth adventure game Styx: Shards of Darkness, a prequel to Of Orcs and Men (also from Cyanide), that is due to release sometime in March 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The three minutes of brand new gameplay features footage of a slew of Styx's (the protagonist) new tools and abilities in three different locations: Wildoran the hunter's village, the secret Sanctuary of the Dark Elven city Korrangar, and Thoben, the city of thieves.

According to developer Cyanide, Styx's second adventure builds upon the foundations laid in the tower Akenash, with improved climbing abilities, more fluid combat, a richer story with cinematics, and enhanced bestiary, side-missions to dive into, as well as new and improved sneaking and assassination skills.

Further, Styx's aerial abilities have been improved and expanded, with the ability to swing from ropes and attack from above with a slew of new tools such as a crossbow, which comes with a range of different bolts such as the non-lethal poison bolt. With the crossbow you can go for a more direct attack, or your could use it to detach environmental objects to crush those below.

As you may know, cloning is one of Styx's signature abilities, and it also received a major upgrade. One such upgrade is the new upgradable cocoon ability, which is craftable item that you can throw to spawn your clone at a distance. Another new ability is Rebirth, which teleports Styx to his clone's location (which kills it in the process). This ability can be used for range of things, such as escaping a dicey situation or getting to a spot that is difficult to reach.

And there is much more in Styx: Shards of Darkness, as you can see in the new gameplay trailer. Personally, I must admit, I had zero interest in this game when it was first announced, but the more I see of it, the more I start to began to crave it.

Good thing I don't have to wait that long to play it, Styx: Shards of Darkness is scheduled to release sometime in March 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A price point hasn't been revealed, but Cyanide did announce that the game is available to preorder starting at 10 a.m. PST on PC today. For pre-ordering you will receive exclusive access to the Akenash set, donning the outfit and dagger from Styx's first adventure.
