Subarashiki Kono Sekai, The World Ends With You, Gets A New Countdown By Square Enix Creative Business Unit I
Square Enix Creative Business Unit I opened a new teaser countdown for The World Ends With You, possibly for a new game project.
Square Enix on November 17 went up and published a new countdown for Subarashiki Kono Sekai, known as The World Ends With You outside Japan. The countdown site, shared on Twitter, will end on November 24 at midnight JST. Or 1000 ET (Click here for a time conversion table).
What’s interesting is that the Twitter account who shared the countdown is the Square Enix Creative Business Unit I. This means it’s likely this countdown isn’t for the upcoming The World Ends With You anime adaptation. But for a new game project. Moreover, the Twitter account’s avatar was changed to that one badge too.
A new game project would tie up nicely with the anime, which will advertise the series and make it more known with those who didn’t get to try it out Nintendo DS.
The countdown includes the words “TIMELIMIT WITHIN 7DAYS”

The World Ends With You EXPLAINED™
Subarashiki Kono Sekai was one of the first JRPG launched on Nintendo DS by Square Enix. It first launched in Japan in 2007. It was later localized as The World Ends With You and released in the west. In Japan, an iOS and Android port launched in 2012. That port was used as base for The World Ends With You Final Mix first launched on Switch in 2019. Though many players who experienced the original DS game believe the Final Mix version is inferior due to its changed controls. You can also read our review to learn more.
The World Ends With You is also popular thanks to the worldwide notoriety of its Creative Producer and Character Designer, Tetsuya Nomura. Multiple TWEWY characters have already appeared in the Kingdom Hearts series as well.
Another element which made Subarashiki Kono Sekai popular is its cool OST by Takeharu Ishimoto. He’s also known as the composer of SAWA. It’d be great if he was back for a sequel and that he’s the one who did the BGM on the countdown site.
