Successful Kickstarter Game Contract Work Gets Public Demo

May 3, 2013

Contract Work, the game who’s successful Kickstarter campaign led it to raise a little over $5,000, has released a new public demo available on their official site (careful, clinking the link immediately opens up the demo on a separate page so it’s probably not safe for work).

The demo plays just like those retro 2-D side scrolling shooters but with an oddly refreshing twist–you can customize the terms of your character’s contract to make each mission easier or harder. If you make things more difficult, you get paid more and vice versa. You then take all that hard-earned dough and use it customize the character however you want to.

Contract Work is actually really fun (it offers an optional tutorial to get acquainted with the controls) and is reminiscent of the old school HTML computer games I played in high school with my friends. I haven’t played a game like this in years and Contract Work reminds me of how addicting (and challenging) this genre is. It’s definitely worth both playing and the trip down memory lane.
