Sucker Punch Productions has been one of Sony’s main first-party developers for over a decade by producing some of its systems’ biggest hits and iconic characters, yet unfortunately the studio has experienced a reduction in its workforce, according to various Twitter posts and a statement from Sony Computer Entertainment of America.

SCEA confirmed through a statement that Sucker Punch Productions has laid off an unknown number of employees from the studio and didn’t give an answer as to the reason for the staff reduction, yet gave an official statement on the matter, included below:

“SCEA can confirm a reduction in workforce has taken place at Sucker Punch Productions. Sucker Punch is appreciative of the tremendous work team members contributed to the inFAMOUS and Sly Cooper series, and wishes them the best in their next endeavors.”

Following its establishment in 1997, Sucker Punch Productions started its development relationship with Sony in 2002 with Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, leading to the studio developing several titles in the Sly Cooper series on PS2, and later the inFAMOUS series on PS3/PS4. The studio most recently released inFAMOUS: Second Son on PS4, and its upcoming standalone DLC, inFAMOUS: First Light, releases for the console on August 26th, 2014.
