Over the past weekend, the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League made its splashy debut at DC FanDome with an exciting cinematic trailer. Featuring some of the Squad's most infamous members such as Harley Quinn, King Shark, and more, the title appears to be a big deviation from Rocksteady's acclaimed Batman: Arkham series. However, for those wondering if the game will continue the Arkham timeline, your questions have now been answered.

During the DC FanDome panel for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady Studios' Sefton Hill confirmed that the title will be "a continuation of the Arkhamverse" established through the Batman: Arkham trilogy. While obviously this game will be focused around the titular group of anti-heroes and features members of the Justice League (such as Super-Man), the game will feature some plot threads and elements from the Arkham games continued through the perspective of the Suicide Squad.

Interestingly, this coincides with the reveal of WB Games Montreal's title Gotham Knights, which was also revealed during DC FanDome and is based around the Batman franchise. However, WB Games Montreal confirmed that Gotham Knights will not be tied to Rocksteady's Arkham games, and instead will take place within its own continuity in the Batman universe. As the developers of Batman: Arkham Origins, the trailer for Gotham Knights left fans wondering whether it would be a spin-off from where Rocksteady's trilogy ended, but it appears that won't be the case.

Given all the new developments and reveals that came out of DC FanDome this past weekend, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League seems like it's a title worth watching out for, if the reveal trailer is any indication. However, the game is around two years away from release and confirmed for next-gen systems, so we'll have to wait a while to hunt down the Justice League for ourselves.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and is expected to release sometime in 2022.
