Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will reportedly be delayed from its planned May 26 release to an unannounced date, according to an anonymous source who told Bloomberg. This is the second delay for the game after it was pushed back to 2023 from its originally planned 2022 release.

Journalist Jason Schreier added that the delay is mainly for polishing, not to remove the controversial elements that caused negative fan reception to the recent gameplay reveal, mainly the games-as-a-service elements.

The latest update we got on Suicide Squad was presented during Sony's extended gameplay showcase in February. Viewers learned that the game will focus on a live service co-op model, with ongoing post-launch updates that will introduce new weapons, characters, and missions, as well as a cosmetics-only Battle Pass. A FAQ on the website clarifies that an internet connection will be required to play the game, even if you play solo.

The fanbase is currently divided, if this recent Reddit vote is anything to go by, with users seemingly willing to overlook most things except the always-online requirement. The RPG elements (or gear system, as some might call it) are also a major concern.

In our feature on Suicide Squad's gameplay system, we covered how it might work gameplay-wise in the long run, and how the perks might translate into long and exhausting grinding for players, saying: "The first item shown off, a legendary sniper rifle for Captain Boomerang, lists its damage as being over 5,000. A number on that big a scale suggests that we're looking at seriously bullet-spongey enemies." You can check out the full feature here for a more informed opinion on the subject.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is set in the same Arkhamverse established by the Batman: Arkham series, which has the death of the Joker in Batman: Arkham City and the public reveal of Batman as Bruce Wayne established in the events, the studio has confirmed.

The game also has sentimental value for many players thanks to Kevin Conroy's contribution (original voice of Batman) before his death. In the story, the team of Arkham inmates (namely Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark) act as heroes against Brainiac, who has brainwashed all the heroes except Wonder Woman, and work together to save the world.
